About Self-Study Lessons
Self-study lessons help you maintain your IAHCSMM certification by providing ongoing education to keep you up-to-date on the latest information in central service. Each lesson features a three-page article exploring a practical, central service-related topic and a 20-question exam. You will receive two points from IAHCSMM for every self-study lesson exam graded by Purdue University that you complete with a score of 70 percent or higher (14 out of 20 correct). Two attempts to achieve a passing score are permitted per examination. You can expect to study two hours on each lesson.

Six new self-study lessons are published annually, from March to January, here on the Purdue Distance Learning Web site and in the IAHCSMM Communiqué magazine. Each lesson is valid up to three years after the publication date.

Self-Study Lesson Subscription: $75
Note: Subscription enrollment open from January to June 30th
The lessons included are 141 - 146 that will be published in 2015-2016 for the 2015 recertification period. The final lesson (146) will be published in January of 2016. A subscription consists of six self-study lessons, published every other month from March through January each year. The subscription series price of $75 is a $15 savings off the regular $90 ($15 x 6 lessons) published price.

Subscriptions By Mail - Your lessons will arrive in the mail every other month. Simply read the article, complete the exam, and then mail the exam to Purdue Distance Learning to be graded. Please allow two weeks to receive your grade.

Subscriptions Online - You will be provided a username and password to access your exams. When you have completed all six lessons, written documentation of your scores will be mailed to you.

Individual Self-Study Lessons: $15
Individual self-study lessons can be downloaded from our Web site and mailed in to be graded.

Purdue/IAHCSMM Self-Study Lesson Comparison
In addition to Purdue University, IAHCSMM is now offering online grading of self-study lessons on their Web site. The lesson articles are the same; however you have two attempts to achieve a passing grade with the Purdue grading option.
